What experts say about 2023 Color Trends For House Painting

Must read

Trends in any domain change from time to time and painting is not an exception. When you might get the best house painters to give a great painting job to your beloved home, here are a few 2023 color trends to watch.

Playing a brown game

Warm brown tones are inspired by the world we see around. Brown shades help make the atmosphere look richer. Director of color marketing at Sherwin Williams Sue Wadden says, “Brown is an earth tone, meaning it makes us feel grounded and more connected to nature. People are looking to bring warmth into the home but they also are looking to bring energy into their spaces, and browns can help a space feel both warm and lively.”

Choices from reds

Experts say energetic shades of red will dominate the painting scenes in 2023. Explaining how to choose from red shades, Wadden observes, “For those who want to play around with red, but aren’t ready to bring in the full brightness of the color, I recommend more muted and darker reds, like a blackberry or merlot. My favorites are Red Barn and Carnelian.”

Neutral colors for a warmer appeal

In most color pallets, neutral shades are the foundation. This color will help homeowners adjust the wall accents, accessories and furniture without any big makeover. Color Curator at Farrow & Ball Joa Studholme says about this trend, “There is certainly a move away from the cooler gray tones, so beloved for the last decade, to those that feel kinder and warmer. We now want colors that are lasting experiences in our homes and reflect a little more of our personality.”

Green is ruling the scene

Green has been a highly popular color family for many years. Increasingly, it is used as a neutral choice and not only in some specific color accents. According to Eiseman, “If you think of green in nature, we see it against everything—everything works against green. Greens are certainly an ongoing theme. It has that wonderful neutrality that makes it work with so many other shades.” Green shades can be paired up with bright tropical color choices like mango, mauve, aqua and peach.

Pairing up cool and warm color tones

Eiseman is of the view that most homeowners may like mixing up cool and warm color tones within the same room. To this end, they might use green or turquoise to complement the beige tones. The other alternatives to this approach are to add a bright purple against tan or cooling a warm brown with a deep green. According to her, the overall goal is to find ways to incorporate the favorite items you own already into updated palettes to achieve a refreshed atmosphere.

Commenting on this trend, she remarks, “Trends are all about creating freshness and newness. We’re not suggesting you throw everything out and start over. If you have things you love, using them in a new color combination can make all the difference.”
